The Faceless Woman

Writer's picture: Helen MooresHelen Moores

Updated: Jan 15

She is the wild heart searching for her eternally devoted lover

She is the conditionally loved and cherished child

She is the lonely girl who coldly stares at another

She is the sequestered adolescent who beguiles.

She is the woman who stays silent as they take from her

She is a loyal and apathetic friend

She is the hopelessly dedicated and ambivalent Mother

She is the tentatively committed wife without end.

She has become a spell of what Others need her to be

And when she removes her bindings at night

She always expected to see the faces of Others

But what she sees is herself staring right back.
